Zap Business Intelligence 5.3 Released

New functionality includes auditing capability and modules for relational reporting and analysis via an Excel interface.

Brisbane, QLD Australia – (September 3, 2007) – Zap Technology has released version 5.3 of its Business Intelligence web-based software, the most significant technology upgrade since its inception. Version 5.3 is focused on improved usability, with significant enhancements to the user interface, dimension browser and installer.

Enhancements and new functionality include:

New modules: Zap has released two new optional modules in version 5.3 that significantly extend the product’s functionality and usability:

  • Zap Reporting – is an online relational reporting tool that lets you produce structured, formal reports such as board reports and profit & loss (P&L) reports that deliver information in a standard format. This tool allows you to create relational reports and then publish them back to Zap Business Intelligence for use in dashboards.
  • Zap Office – meets the need for business intelligence reporting and analysis via an Excel® interface. This application lets you combine data from corporate databases and then analyse it in Excel.

Redesigned user interface for enhanced simplicity and productivity: The entire user interface of Zap Business Intelligence has been redesigned with a fresh, simple look and feel and Zap’s new branding.

Improved dimension browser for easier creation of analyses and reports: The dimension browser has changed from a drop down menu to a single tree structure that can be expanded to show the different dimensions, hierarchies, levels and members. This streamlines the creation of analyses and reports and makes the process more intuitive.

New installer to help administrators: The installer for the server-side installation has been completely re-written using the latest technology to make the process faster and easier for administrators.

New auditing functionality to track sensitive data: Zap has added new auditing functionality that records the data users have looked at and the actions they took in the system. This can be useful for sensitive data – for example for protection if an employee is leaving the company, or to check a historical view of data a user saw previously.
