Foodservice distributor NAFDA talks about BI simplicity

Brisbane, Australia – (February 22, 2011) – Zap customer NAFDA has been interviewed in the media* about using Zap Business Intelligence for Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Titled Simplicity key to system tailored for food industry, the article profiles NAFDA, a food service distribution group that uses Microsoft Dynamics NAV and decided to fix its reporting bottlenecks by implementing Zap Business Intelligence for Microsoft Dynamics NAV. NAFDA employs 950 people, has 59 distribution centers, services around 33,000 customers, and has group turnover in excess of $750m (AUD).

The article makes the following points:

  • BI would replace analysis via offline spreadsheets, which caused bottlenecks and meant that outdated data was being used.
  • NAFDA determined that they needed a BI solution that required minimal technical resources and expertise.
  • They wanted to improve supplier management, by providing a value-added service providing information about where their products were ending up.
  • Staff time has been redeployed to generating sales rather than manually churning out information.
  • Zap can be rolled out to each distributor within a day.
  • The final stage in the project is to collect information from other ERP packages used by distributors.

CFO Barry Hough is quoted: “It (Zap) has translated to savings in the sense of time and the allocation of resources. Staff that used to be purely charged with churning out information are now proactively driving sales.”
